报告摘要:  Linear codes over finite chain rings form the natural generalization of classical linear codes over finite fields and Z_4-linear codes such as the Kerdock and Preparata codes. Similar to the classical setting, these codes can be viewed as point sets in certain finite geometries, called projective Hjelmslev geometries. The geometric viewpoint helps in solving several important problems such as the computation of code parameters and the construction of good codes.  The talk will provide an introduction to this geometric approach and discuss some recent results and open problems.

专家概况: Thomas Honold currently works as associate professor for the Department of Information Science and Electronics Engineering of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. He has received his academic qualifications (M.Sc., Ph.D., and Habilitation) in Mathematics from TU Munich, Germany, in 1990, 1994, and 2000, respectively.  He has held various academic positions at TU Munich (1993-2003, 2004/5, 2012), University of Eichstaett, Germany (2001), German Institute of Science and Technology, Singapore (2003/4), and Zhejiang University (2007). His research interests include Coding Theory, Finite Geometry and related areas from Abstract Algebra and Discrete Mathematics.
